Routine cleanings, fillings, major work — NJ dental plans for individuals, families, and Medicare beneficiaries.

What dental coverage looks like
Dental insurance helps cover preventive care (cleanings, x-rays), basic restorative work (fillings, extractions), and major procedures (crowns, root canals, dentures). Most NJ plans use a tiered cost-share structure with a calendar-year deductible and a maximum annual benefit.
If you're on Medicare, your dental options are: (1) a Medicare Advantage plan that includes dental as an embedded benefit, (2) a standalone dental policy, or (3) both, depending on what your network and your providers support. We compare every plan against your current dentist before recommending.
For working-age and family coverage, we look at network depth, annual maximums, and whether ortho coverage is built in or sold as a rider.
Common questions
- Does Medicare cover dental?
- Original Medicare doesn't cover routine dental. Many Medicare Advantage plans include a dental benefit (with a network and an annual cap). Standalone dental plans fill the gap when Original Medicare or a no-dental MA plan is your foundation.
- What's a typical annual maximum?
- $1,000–$2,500 for most standalone NJ plans. Medicare Advantage embedded dental tends to cap lower ($1,000–$3,000) depending on carrier and county.
- Are there waiting periods?
- Preventive care is usually immediate. Basic work waits 3–6 months, major work 6–12 months on most carriers. We can find no-waiting-period options when you need them.
